BOMBER SNOWMOBILE
THIS
WAS ON MARKETPLACE FOR SALE.
THE
PERSON SAYS 4 OF THESE SNOWMOBILES WERE MADE.
1
of 4 produced. Needs resto but all there.
INFO
I HAVE IS THAT THEY WERE PRODUCED SOMEWHERE AROUND ALBANY, NY. USA.
THIS
PERSON SAID THAT HE FATHER AND GRANDFATHER BUILT 4 OF THEM FOR PACKING
SKI TRAILS.
THEY
WERE BUILT FROM DIFFERENT PARTS FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES.
THE
FOLLOWING INFO WAS PASSED ON TO ME.
ONE
SLED IS WITH KEVIN CRAWFORD IN SLOANVILLE AND ONE IS WITH NELSON BACK'S
FAMILY.
NELSON
BACK RAN A MACHINE SHOP IN CENTRAL BRIDGE NY WAS ONE OF THE BUILDERS WITH
MY
GRANDFATHER
AND FATHER. NELSON PASSED A FEW YEARS AGO AND HIS FAMILY KEPT THE
SLED.
THE
ONE IN SLOANVILLE IS IN MY UNCLE'S BARN, IT WAS SCAVENGED TO KEEP THE
ONE
NELSON HAD RUNNING. THE BUILDERS WERE BROWN AND BACK.
I
believe the engine is from a Vespa (by Piaggio).
I
am not sure if it is the same as the one in the photo, but it is similar.
Reto
Vespa is an Italian brand
of scooters and mopeds manufactured by Piaggio.
The
Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in
1946
by Piaggio ? Co. S.p.A. of Pontedera, Italy, to a full line of scooters
and
one
of seven companies today owned by Piaggio.
From
their inception, Vespa scooters have been known for a painted, pressed
steel body which combines,
in
a unified structure: a full cowling enclosure around the engine concealing
dirt or grease,
a
flat floor panel protecting the feet, and a prominent front fairing to
divert wind and rain.
